Cupra, the newly separated sporty brand SEAT, has revealed a new ‘hot’ electric car which will bring GTI-like performance.
The car is essentially a lightly-restyled version of the Volkswagen ID.3, which means it will have a 77kWh battery giving 310 miles of range. Rapid charging at up to 125kW will allow it take on 161 miles of range in half an hour.
Unlike most hot hatchbacks, the el Born will be rear-wheel-drive, with a single 201bhp motor.

The car has previously been shown as a concept car, but was revealed wearing SEAT badges. The rebrand to Cupra suggests it will be sportier than originally planned. It is expected to arrive in the UK in mid 2021.
The el Born is one of several cars which will use the Volkswagen Group’s medium size electric car structure. Along with the ID.3, Audi has revealed its Q4 and a Skoda model is also due.
