Tesla has finally released the Performance version of its recently revamped Model Y, and it has more power than ever.
The new Performance is also said to be more refined and have better handling, as it uses the same improvements introduced earlier in 2025 to the rest of the range, along with a redesigned interior and exterior.
Predictably it uses the drivetrain seen on the latest Model 3 Performance, which delivers 16% more peak torque, 32% more peak power and 22% more continuous power than the previous version.

An upgraded battery pack equipped with new cells also gives higher energy density without adding weight. This means the new Model Y Performance delivers 460HP, accelerates from 0–60 mph in 3.3 seconds – 1.6 seconds faster than the Long Range AWD version - and reaches a top speed of 155 mph.
The official range is 360 miles, which is just four miles less than the LR AWD and 27 miles below the single motor model.
Also borrowed from Model 3 Performance is the adaptive suspension technology, which is said to use a control algorithm to delivers ride and handling optimised for all driving scenarios, with selectable drive modes. It also features new springs, stabiliser bars and bushings, plus 21-inch ‘Arachnid 2.0’ wheels. Improvements to the rear body structure increase torsional stiffness.

Styling upgrades include red brake callipers, special badging, puddle lamps with Performance logo projections, glossy black finishes on the fascias and mirror caps, plus a carbon fibre rear spoiler. The aero additions result in 10% less drag and 64% reduced lift compared to earlier Model Y Performance vehicles.
Inside, the front seats are unique to the Performance with powered thigh cushion extenders. There are also carbon dash and door trim inserts and aluminium pedals. At the centre of the dash is an all-new 16” touchscreen with thinner bezels and higher resolution. It offers nearly 80% more pixels than the 15.4” display on other Model Y variants.

These are in addition to the features that come standard on all new Model Y vehicles, such as a panoramic glass roof with acoustic glass throughout the cabin, an 8” second-row touchscreen, and power-reclining second-row seats.
New Model Y Performance is built at Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg. It is priced at £61,990 – that’s £2,000 more than the previous version and £10,000 more than the Long Range AWD. Watch out for the lease costs though – the Performance is £975 per month on a 36 month deal, compared to £525 for the LR AWD on the same terms.
