Citroen has given its popular C5 Aircross SUV a mid-life nip and tuck. More than 260,000 examples have been sold in Europe since its launch in 2018 with the plug-in hybrid version offering a good solution for drivers who aren’t ready to go fully electric.
The facelift package includes a new front end, new 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and personalisation options. Citroen claims the updated model is now more aerodynamic thanks to functional ‘air curtains’ positioned at either side of the front bumper.
Inside, the updated C5 Aircross adds a new 10-inch touchscreen that offers direct-access to climate control functions and is positioned higher on the dashboard than before. The new 10-inch touchscreen, featuring Citroën’s My Citroën Drive satellite navigation, will be standard equipment in all UK versions.
The new model will also come equipped with new Citroën Advanced Comfort seats. First seen on the C4, the new seats are made with high-density foam in the core of the seat, with an extra 15mm layer of foam and a specific structure. As before, the C5 Aircross comes with Citroën’s Progressive Hydraulic Cushion suspension which delivers a smooth ride.
The plug-in hybrid system also remains unchanged, which means drivers can travel up to 34 miles in full-electric mode with zero tailpipe emissions. The Aircross can charge its 13.2kWh battery at 7.4kW as standard and plugging into a domestic 32A wallbox allows it to charge fully in under two hours. As before charging sessions can be scheduled via the MyCitroën smartphone app. Owners can also use this to precondition the car’s climate control.
Prices have yet to be announced.
