Devon is no longer a charging desert, as Osprey adds 15 rapids

Holidaymakers and local electric car drivers in Devon will no longer have to rely on three pins and a prayer, as three new rapid chargers have just gone on line in Barnstable.

It is the first charging location in a partnership between North Devon Council and Osprey Charging which will more than double the current number of rapid chargers in the district, significantly improving charging provision for residents, businesses and the six million tourists who visit each year.

A total of 15 rapid chargers are in development across the region in Barnstable, Lynton, South Molton and Ilfracombe.Access to charging is one of the biggest barriers to electric car adoption and there are concerns that more rural areas where charge points are traditionally less common, such as North Devon, risk being left behind in the transition if there is not visible reassurance of ample public charging.
