The Volkswagen ID.3 caused a real stir when it was launched, bringing new levels of innovation and efficiency to the electric car market. It has steadily evolved since, adapting to suit the demanding needs of electric car drivers and embracing new technology. Now the ID.3 has had its biggest upgrade yet, becoming the ID.3 Neo.

The all-electric hatchback builds on the solid base of the original ID.3, adding a new and fresh design, a thoroughly reworked interior and the latest technology. The enhancements are designed around what drivers really want. It makes switching to electric power for the first feel natural, while more experienced EV afficionados will appreciate the upgrades to the range, efficiency and charging experience.

A fresh look, with unmistakable Volkswagen character

The ID.3 Neo introduces Volkswagen’s latest ‘Pure Positive’ design language, giving the car a clean, confident and modern appearance. A redesigned front end and updated lighting bring it into line with the wider ID. electric family, while the overall look remains distinctive without being overcomplicated.

The new shape doesn’t sacrifice the practicality that has always made the ID.3 such a compelling choice, with innovative packaging enabling space for the family while still being small enough on the outside to handle city streets and tight parking spaces.

New alloy wheel designs add to the styling options, and a fresh paint colour choice called “Norwegian Sea Blue” gives the new ID.3 Neo even greater street presence.

Step inside and you’ll find one of the most significant improvements to the ID.3 Neo, with a cabin designed to feel more welcoming, intuitive and premium.

An interior designed around you

Volkswagen has listened carefully to feedback about how drivers interact with their cars, and the result is a redesigned interior that puts usability and premium comfort at its heart.

High-quality materials, a cleaner dashboard layout and a more considered arrangement of controls give the interior an upmarket vibe. Textured trims and soft padded surfaces create a welcoming feel in the interior.

Notably, physical buttons are now used for the controls, making everyday adjustments more straightforward and reducing the need to navigate menus on a touchscreen.

A 10.2-inch driver’s display presents essential information clearly, while the large 12.9-inch central touchscreen provides access to infotainment and new connected functions. Together, they create a modern digital environment without making the simple tasks unnecessarily complicated.

Technology that makes a difference

The ID.3 Neo’s latest software also brings useful innovations beyond the redesigned displays. For example, an optional digital vehicle key adds further convenience, allowing compatible mobile devices to be used to access the car rather than cluttering up your pocket or handbag.

Then there’s the introduction of One Pedal Driving, allowing the car to recuperate more energy as you lift off the accelerator and making stop-start journeys feel smoother and almost effortless.

Once you are parked, Vehicle-to-Load functionality also allows the car’s high-voltage battery to supply power to compatible external electrical devices such as an e-bike charger, power tools or camping equipment.

More range, more freedom

Range remains one of the biggest considerations when choosing an electric car, whether you are buying your first EV or are upgrading. The ID.3 Neo uses an updated, more efficient electric drive system and a choice of three new battery sizes to suit every driver’s needs.

The official WLTP combined range can reach a maximum of 390 miles on a full charge with the largest 79kWh battery. However, there’s flexibility for customers to choose a car that suits their budget and driving habits. If most journeys are local, the 50kWh will be ample. If you need to cover longer trips regularly the 79kWh will be the best option. For a bit of both, there’s the 58kWh as a happy medium.

Charging is designed to fit around real life, too. An 11kW onboard charger supports faster home or destination AC charging, while the ID.3 Neo’s DC rapid-charging capability is up to 105kW for the smaller batteries and 183kW for the largest.

As always, the actual range and charging times in the real world will depend on weather, driving styles and charging conditions.

The right kind of electric car

What makes the new Volkswagen ID.3 Neo special is the way the clever upgrades work together. The refreshed styling gives it a stronger identity, the redesigned cabin makes everyday interactions more intuitive, and the improved efficiency makes the most of every watt fed into the upgraded batteries. It’s the best ID.3 yet.
