Fiat is set to broaden its electric van range with the addition of a new E-Doblo. The new fifth-generation model will become Fiat’s third fully-electric commercial alongside the e E-Ducato and E-Scudo.

The new E-Doblo shares its underpinnings and a significant amount of design features with the Citroen e-Berlingo, Peugeot e-Partner and Vauxhall Combo-e. Where the previous model was a joint venture with Vauxhall, the new version is the first built under Stellantis ownership.

The new E-Doblo features the same 50kWh battery pack as its Stellantis stablemates and has a claimed WLTP range of 173 miles. The front-mounted electric motor generates 134bhp and has a torque output of 260Nm. It can accept a rapid DC charge at speeds of up to 100kW, which is enough to deliver an 80% charge in 30 minutes. The driver can choose between different modes: Normal, Eco and Power. Each mode modifies throttle response, optimising the vehicle performance.

In the UK, the new Doblò will be available in two lengths with two different configurations – Van and Crew Cab. Van versions come with a Magic Cargo feature that creates a 0.5m3 increase in cargo volume and the possibility of loading long objects like pipes or ladders of up to 3.4 m of load length. To add more space, drivers can also raise the seat on the passenger side and use the compartment underneath for extra storage.

Buyers can also specify a Magic Mirror - a 5-inch digital rear view mirror that provides three different views: a rearview mirror, a complete view of the blind spot area and rear parking camera improving visibility and safety.

A vehicle to load (V2L) system will also be offered to customers. The so-called Magic Plug will allow operators to use the main traction battery as a power source when on-site and away from a mains power supply.

The E-Doblo offers a payload of up to 800 kg on both wheelbases – allowing customers to load up to two euro-pallets.

Available in both long-wheelbase and short-wheelbase versions, the long-wheelbase version has a maximum volume of 4.4 m3 thanks to the Magic Cargo feature. The Crew Cab long wheelbase body comes with a sliding bulkhead, which enables to drivers to prioritise cargo space or passenger seating as needed.

Final UK prices and specifications will be announced shortly.
