Hyundai has revealed its biggest EV yet at the Brussels motor show – an electric version of its Staria MPV.
This space age looking car is the direct replacement for the frumpy old i800 that Hyundai used to sell in the UK and has been on sale in various markets around the world since 2021, but it’s taken until now for the Staria to make its way to British shores.
In other countries the Staria has been sold with a variety of petrol, hybrid and diesel powertrains, but we’re just getting the new electric option that’s been readied for 2026, which features a 218hp e-motor powering the front wheels and an 84kWh battery.

Like the Ioniq 5, 6 and 9 models the Staria gets an 800V charging setup that the Korean carmaker says means a 10–80% charge in just 20 minutes. Peak charging speeds haven’t been confirmed yet, but that sort of charging time would put the Staria on par with the Ioniq 6’s 233kW peak rate.
The MPV will also be available with an 11kW AC onboard charger and the swankiness even extends to a heated charge port cover for those chilly days. Official WLTP range hasn’t been confirmed yet, but Hyundai’s initial indication is that it will be rated for 249 miles.
A particular point of appeal to a certain demographic will be the fact that the Staria is also rated to tow up to 2,000kg of braked trailer if you’re looking for the ultimate practical machine.

Inside there are two seating configurations available from launch – a seven-seater luxury oriented model and a more practically minded nine-seater vehicle. Both feature seats that can slide and fold for the best blend of passenger and luggage space.
The posher seven-seat version gets electrically powered sliding side doors and tailgate as standard, while they’re optional on the nine-seater car. Hyundai says that the battery packaging has enabled it to boost legroom and headroom. The window line sits quite low too, letting plenty of light into the cabin.
Up front there are two 12.3in screens – one for the driver and one for the central infotainment display. Hyundai’s offering V2L capability on the Staria, as well as powerful 100W USB sockets around the cabin, making the Staria useful for day to day living and practical on holiday as well.
The Staria is set to go on sale in the UK in the first half of 2026 – we don’t have pricing and specification details for the UK range just yet, but keep checking back at Electrifying.com for more.
Some screens, some buttons – just how we like our interiors. Fluffy dice for the rearview mirror cost extra
