Skoda Elroq and Enyaq owners can expect a nice little present from Skoda the next time they get into their cars – the Czech carmaker has updated its infotainment system over the air with a raft of new entertainment features.
There’s the AirConsole gaming system, the Skoda Play video service and Spotify integration now features as standard too. All three are included in Skoda’s ‘media streaming package’, which it says is available free of charge for the first three years in new vehicles.

All three new entertainment features will make charging a whole lot more fun – there are 15 games available in AirConsole, including Tetris. Skoda says that when the car is stopped the infotainment screen becomes the gaming display and you can use your phone as the controller.
The platform supports single and multiplayer games, so everyone can get involved. To use AirConsole Skoda says that you’ll need a Skoda ID, an active MySkoda account and an internet connection on your smartphone.
Skoda Play is a video resource that brings news and educational content to your car – Skoda says that the content will come from the likes of Euronews, NASA+, CNN, Reuters and Bloomberg – again, only when parked. This one sounds a bit more boring, but maybe if you’ve been charging for ages…

Spotify will be available on the move, you won’t need to be parked up for that one – Skoda says that you can use your existing login for the service and you won’t need your phone to be hooked up to the car to enjoy it.
Another interesting new feature that arrives with the infotainment update is an ‘emergency vehicle approaching’ alert that’s being integrated into Skoda’s Traffication application – emergency vehicles with their blue lights on share their position and driving direction so that drivers can be warned.

The emergency services system is already active in the UK and the Netherlands, with Czech police apparently joining up soon. The display will even give drivers advice on creating a 'corridor' for the emergency vehicle to get through.
Skoda says that the updates should happen automatically, but they’ll only appear on cars with software 4.0 and higher installed.
