Kia has just launched new performance versions of three of its mainstream electric vehicles – the EV3, EV4 and EV5 – and we’ve driven them all. 

The three cars made their debut at the Brussels motor show earlier this year, but this was the first time that anyone has been able to drive the sporty new EVs. 

And so of course we sent Serious Driving Correspondent Nicola Hume to try them all out. Check out her video below and then read on for more details on the the new Kia GT models. 

The cars all feature Kia’s signature GT upgrades, including a perky performance focused all-wheel-drive powertrain, virtual gear shifts and bespoke sounds to make them seem even faster. 

You also get special GT driving modes, launch control and upgraded suspension to add a little excitement to proceedings. 

The GT driving mode has even been set up to allow a bit of drifting, which should of course only be attempted in controlled and safe circumstances (like the Curry’s car park after it’s closed for the evening). 

UK prices and specifications are still to be confirmed by Kia, but we know the headline figures at least. It should also be noted that Kia UK isn’t bringing the GT version of the EV4 fastback model to the country, rather it’s just going to be selling the hatchback in its performance trim. 

If you’re in continental Europe then the cars are already available for you to order, but UK buyers are going to have to wait a little longer, unfortunately. Check out the important stats below in the meantime.
