Peugeot has fiddled with the e-208 again, this time upgrading it with the motor and bigger battery from the new e-308.

The battery rises in size from 50 to 54kWh (with 51kWh being usable) which increases the range from 225 to 248 miles.

A new 156hp electric motor has also been wired in, giving the new car a 15% increase in power.

Peugeot is the first to announce the upgrades, but the same battery and powertrain is used in a huge number of other models from Vauxhall, Citroen and DS as well as vans badged as Fiat and Toyota. It's expected there models - including the best selling Corsa and Vivaro - will get the upgrade too in early 2023.

The first examples of the more powerful e-208 will appear in early 2023. A slight price increase is expected.
