A less limited edition: Citroën’s to build 1,000 more Ami Buggys

Did you miss out the ‘strictly limited’ run of just 50 Ami Buggys earlier this year? Well there’s no need to worry - Citroën has announced that 1,000 more are to be built.

The new limited edition version will be very similar to the first edition, but with a few unspecified ‘surprise features’ over the current My Ami Buggy, which sold out all 50 units in just 18 minutes. Further details will be released in the spring.

The Ami Buggy was originally shown as a concept car in December 2021, and while some of the features were toned down for the original production car, it still retains the open look and feel.

The Buggy features hinged metal tubing to replace the doors and a removable soft-top to make the most of the sun. Reminiscent of the fabric roofs on legendary Citroëns such as the 2CV, the protective grey fabric roof is detachable via snap fasteners, and can be rolled up and stored securely behind the seats.

It features the same 5.5kWh battery as the standard Ami, with a recharge time of four hours from a domestic socket. The range is limited to 46 miles and it has a top speed of 28mph.

My Ami Buggy will be available to customers on a first-come, first-served basis with sales expected to open in spring 2023, and deliveries beginning in the summer. No price has been announced.
