Italian performance brand Abarth has released yet more images of its upcoming 600e.

The trio of pictures give us our best look at the spicy SUV and shows off the launch edition named 'Scorpionissima', which will be limited to 1,949 units. They were released on Easter Sunday to celebrate the brand's 75th anniversary.

In keeping with firm's history of tuning Fiat models, Abarth has given the Fiat 600e a wild visual makeover, which includes a lowered ride height, wider footprint, and a deep air damn at the front. Acid yellow brake callipers sit behind massive 20-inch alloy wheels, and the same colour is used on new Abarth Scorpion badges – as seen on the Abarth 500e – which stuck to the front wings.

The rear gets a chunkier rear bumper, a fake diffuser and a large roof-mounted spoiler. The exterior is topped off with 'Abarth+' decals along the bottom of the doors and a brand new paint colour called 'Hypnotic Purple'.

Easter give-away shows off the Abarth 600e's interior for the first time

The Easter give-away also reveals the interior for the first time. The Abarth 600e's cabin gets a pair of heavily-bolstered sports seats trimmed in leather and Alcantara with contrast acid yellow stitching, and the same goes for the steering wheel which gets similar trimmings. The Abarth gets rid of the Fiat 600's cutesy retro colour themes for dark grey, which includes a matt grey dashboard panel with 'Abarth' emblazoned across it.

The car also gets an Abarth theme for the infotainment system, which includes specific graphics, performance information and the ability to toggle on or off the sound generator to give an artificial engine note.

No more performance details have revealed, so all we know at this stage is that the 600e will develop 237bhp from a front-mounted electric motor, making it Abarth's most powerful car ever. The sporty crossover will also get a a mechanical limited-slip differential and tyres that were ‘jointly developed with the supplier for Formula E’ for maximum grip. Abarth previously said the the car is 'designed to leave Abarth fans speechless'...

Pricing and on-sale dates haven't been announced yet, but we would expect the hot SUV to appear in the second half of this year with a price tag exceeding £40,000.
