BYD has revealed their new range topping flagship SUV at the Paris Motor Show. The BYD Atto 8 will, fittingly, be BYD’s largest European offering with up to 7 seats, and measuring in at just over 5m long.

Buyers can choose between rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive powertrains, both of which share the same, standard 115kWh battery offering up to 405 miles of WLTP range from the single motor offering.

Naturally, the dual motor all wheel drive option is the more powerful of the two, offering 775hp and a 0-62mph sprint time of 4.6 seconds while the single motor car comes in at 462hp. That extra power does cost some range though, as the dual motor option gets up to 374 miles of WLTP-rated range.

The Atto 8 is set to get all the fun and comfy features we’re used to seeing in BYDs and more, with leather upholstery, heated and ventilated seats, and a panoramic glass roof. But better yet, the Atto 8 is fully equipped to handle BYD’s proprietary Flash Charging system. That means charging times as low as five minutes for a charge from 10-70% and just nine minutes to get from 10-97%.

The Atto 8 was far from the only interesting electric reveal BYD has to show off in Paris, chiefly, the ever-popular Dolphin Surf has been updated to include an extra seat for added practicality and extra space for the kids to bring a friend.

The Dolphin surf also gets a technology update including a new, larger, 12.8-inch central screen with Google built-in along with a larger, 8.8-inch driver display. The gear selector has been relocated to the steering column too.

Finally for the Dolphin Surf, BYD is now offering more standard equipment across the range, with heated steering wheel for the Boost and Comfort trims, while the Boost gets heated seats too. Great additions for efficient heating and extending range in cold conditions.
