Chinese carmaker XPeng has confirmed that its fancy new seven-seat X9 is on its way to the UK later this year.
The MPV is back in fashion in the car world and the X9 is a prime example of the wave of luxurious electric people movers that are hitting our streets.
There will be three variants of the car on offer in the UK – Standard Range, Long Range and AWD. The Standard Range car manages 332 miles of WLTP range, the Long Range will go 382 miles and the four-wheel-drive version is rated at 360 miles of range.
That’s all thanks to 95kWh and 106kWh battery packs, both of which come with 800V tech and 542kW ultra-rapid charging capability (537kW in the Standard Range) for a 10–80% charging time of around 12 minutes.
Not that you’ll find too many of those plugs around these parts, but the X9 will basically take whatever electricity you can hose at it.
On the outside the XPeng certainly looks interesting, with the distinct air of a more angular 2006 Citroen C4 Picasso from the side view.

We don’t have many pictures of the car available, some exterior shots and one of a woman enjoying the well appointed captain’s chairs in the second row with her weird looking cat.
Neither do we really have any information from XPeng on the specification of the car, other than the fact that it has a “first class” interior and an “AI-driven smart cockpit”.
We do know the price though – the X9 will start from £74,990 for the Standard Range car, £79,990 for the Long Range version and £84,990 for the AWD model.
You can register your interest in the car with XPeng now, and orders open soon for deliveries starting in September. If you're looking for something a touch smaller then XPeng does still have its G6 SUV on sale.
