Geely has added a new bigger-batteried Ultra model to the EX5 line-up, bringing a few more miles of range, towing capability and an additional exterior colour. There is a trade-off though, as the in addition to a cost hike the new version is a little slower and costs an extra £2,000.

The Ultra uses a 68.39 kWh LFP battery, delivering a WLTP range of up to 280 miles. This compares to the 60.22 kWh pack and 267 mile total in the rest of the range – which means you are paying £153.85 for each extra mile of range. It hits efficiency too, dropping from 4.43 miles/kWh to 4.09.

The Ultra also takes a performance hit, with the 0–62 mph acceleration dropping back from 6.2 seconds to 7.6 seconds. This allows the Ultra to introduce a 750kg braked towing capacity for the first time, supported by a Trailer Stability Assist function on the stability control. This will allow the EX5 to pull a small trailer and carry bike racks.  The EX5 Ultra also debuts a new exterior paint option called Rainforest Green.

The Ultra  features the same specification as the previous range topper, called the Max , including a 13.8” head-up display, a 16-speaker sound system, a panoramic sunroof, power tailgate and front seat ventilation and massage function.

Geely is offering all Geely EX5 customers a dual-branded Andersen 7kW smart home charger with professional installation for £499 – a saving of £1,000. The Ultra is on sale now through Geely’s dealers with first customer deliveries expected from May 2026.
