Hollywood film star Jason Momoa has been working with a company in Oxfordshire to get two of his Land Rovers and three of his 1920s Harley-Davidson motorbikes converted to run on electric power. 

Momoa has been filming the transformation as part of the second season of his television series ‘On the roam’, which is on HBO Max. Because nobody really watches HBO Max, let us tell you how he’s gone about making the changes to the old classics. 

The Aquaman star went to a company called Electrogenic, which is based in Kidlington, north of Oxford, to get his rare 1961 Series II Land Rover camper and a 1949 Series I converted to run on electricity. Both now have a range of more than 150 miles (each, that’s not between them). 

Two of his 1920s Model JD Harley-Davidsons (why does he need two of the same model? Maybe he keeps them at different houses, he is rich after all) have kept their original engines but now run on a hybrid setup that can operate in EV mode. 

His third Harley-Davidson, a 1921 Model FD, has been converted to run on purely electric power because the engine was seized beyond repair, possibly as a result of being taken to a magical underwater kingdom, but it wasn’t clarified. 

Momoa said that he was excited by the technology that the staff at Electrogenic were able to deploy onto his old cars and bikes, and described riding his hybridised motorbikes as a “beautiful experience”. 

Electrogenic boss Steve Drummond meanwhile said that he and his team had worked hard to maintain the character of the vehicles while also equipping them with state of the art technology.
