Jeep has published the first image and details of its next fully electric SUV – the Wagoneer S.

The newcomer is important for Jeep as the model will be the American brand's first global electric car. The Avenger, which Electrifying named as its Urban Electric Car of the Year 2024, is for Europe only.

Jeep says the Wagoneer S will go on sale in its home market first, marking a significant step in the USA's journey on launching more EVs. It'll be available in US dealers from the spring and then in key markets around the world, potentially the UK, from 2025.

It's believed the Wagoneer S will sit below the Grand Cherokee size-wise in Jeep's line-up, and use parent firm Stellantis's STLA-Large underpinnings. This platform is reserved for forthcoming large and upmarket models from brands such as Alfa Romeo and Maserati, and has a range of up to 500 miles.

Jeep confirmed the Wagoneer S will have its '4xe' twin-electric motor four-wheel drive system, 'with all-terrain management, advanced Jeep brand-focused technology and impressive performance credentials'. The twin motors will pack just under 600bhp allowing for a zero to 62mph sprint time of around 3.5 seconds.

The teaser image released by Jeep doesn't give too much away, but it's clear to see the Wagoneer S will have the firm's trademark blocky styling, and a new illuminated take on its classic seven-slot grille.
