Kia has revealed UK pricing and specifications for the EV5, with prices starting from £39,295.
The EV5 sits alongside Kia’s global best-seller, the Sportage, in the big selling C-SUV segment. The EV5 is slightly bigger though, at 1,875mm wide, 4,610mm long, and 1,675mm tall. That’s 10mm wider, 70mm longer and 30mm taller than the Sportage.
As with the EV3, EV4, EV6 and EV9, the Kia EV5 is offered in three trim levels: ‘Air’, ‘GT-Line’ and ‘GT-Line S’. All variants are offered with the same 81.4kWh battery pack as the EV3 and EV4. On the EV5, this enables a range of up to 329 miles on a single charge according to the official WLTP combined’ cycle.
It is powered by a front-mounted 214bhp electric motor, which allows the EV5 to accelerate from 0-to-62mph in 8.4 seconds, on to a top speed of 102mph.
Unlike the bigger EV6 and EV9, the 5 uses 400V technology which means charging is slower at a maximum of 150kW on a DC charger and 11kW on AC. This means the EV5 is able to charge from 10-to-80% in 30 minutes, and 7 hours and 20 minutes on an 11kW AC charger to get from 10-to-100%.

Every EV5 comes equipped with Kia CarPay and Plug & Charge as standard, and free of charge. CarPay allows drives to locate and pay for parking through the vehicle’s central infotainment screen, while Plug & Charge streamlines the charging process. When the EV5 is connected to a Plug & Charge-compatible charge station, the charging session can be activated automatically with no need to authorise via charging card or app.
The starting point for the EV5 line-up is the ‘Air’ grade, but most buyers are expected to choose the ‘GT-Line’ upgrade, which costs £42,595. It has a sporty look, with 19-inch alloy wheels with ‘GT-Line’ styling. It also has Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability and a wireless mobile phone charger.
The top of the line-up is the ‘GT-Line S’ variant, at £47,095. This includes an opening sunroof, ventilated front seats, Harman Kardon sound system, Head-Up Display (HUD) and digital key with fingerprint recognition. It is the only model which can be specified with the optional heat pump, which costs an additional £900.
