Kia says that it will reveal its new EV2 electric SUV at the Brussels motor show in January, so we'll have to content ourselves with these teaser images for now.

We did already get a good look at the concept version of the car back in February 2025 of course, but we’re looking forward to see what interesting features from that car make it through to production.

The EV2 will be a similar size to Hyundai’s Inster, slotting underneath the EV3 in the Kia line-up – nice for a company to have a sensible naming system. The production version of the car will have the wraps taken off on press day at the Brussels motor show on 9 January 2026. Kia says it will also reveal faster GT versions of its EV3, EV4 and EV5 models.

The EV2 has been designed in Europe (and isn’t actually planned for sale in Korea) and will be built at Kia’s Žilina factory in Slovakia, former home of the Ceed hatchback. Kia’s not revealed any powertrain details yet, aside from the fact that the car will be based on its E-GMP engineering platform and that it will come with options for a larger NMC battery (likely around 55kWh) or a smaller LFP pack (closer to 40kWh).

The car will go up against the likes of the Peugeot E-2008, Jeep Avenger and Ford Puma Gen-E in the mini SUV category. As well as cars like the Citroen e-C3, the Renault 5, the Hyundai Inster, the Skoda Epiq when it arrives… this is a jam packed bit of the market. Kia has been on a bit of a roll lately, along with its Korean sister brand Hyundai, but this will be a real acid test of its mass electric appeal.

To add to the excitement, at some point in 2026 we expect to see an EV1 concept for an entry level electric supermini from Kia that will go on sale in 2027, head to head against the likes of the Volkswagen ID.1 and Renault Twingo – it's fun to see carmakers embracing the supermini again after a few lean years.
