Mazda commits to carbon neutrality by 2050

Mazda has announced its commitment to making all its factories carbon neutral by 2035, supporting its goal of making the whole Mazda supply chain carbon neutral by 2050. 

The company says the move will reduce CO₂ emissions in every step of vehicle production, including manufacturing, transport, vehicle usage and recycling. 

To achieve carbon neutrality in the factories, Mazda says it is focused on three areas: energy conservation, a shift to renewable energies, and introduction of carbon neutral fuels for in-house transportation. 

Conservation efforts include the reduction of thermal energy through the development of low-temperature curing paints and improvement of energy conversion efficiency by optimising processing technology. 

Mazda is also considering various forms of decarbonisation, such as low/carbon-free power generation in its plants and procurement of electricity from renewable energy suppliers.

There is no news of further electric vehicle launches however.​​
