​Mazda is set to double its EV offering in the UK before the end of the year with the arrival of the new CX-6e. 

The Japanese carmaker has announced that the car will go on sale before the end of 2026 in two trims – Takumi and Takumi Plus – costing £42,990 and £45,350 respectively. 

It’s a chunk more expensive than we were hoping the new car would cost when it was revealed at the Brussels motor show earlier this year. 

The new CX-6e is an SUV version of the 6e electric hatchback that went on sale earlier this year in the UK. The 6e starts from £38,995 and offers the same trim line-up as its new SUV sibling, topping out at £39,995. 

Both cars have been developed in conjunction with Chinese carmaker Changan, which sells Deepal-badged models sharing the same engineering in various markets across the world, including the UK, where the S07 has already been on sale for some time ahead of the CX-6e. 

​The new CX-6e comes with a 78kWh LFP battery that manages a WLTP range of up to 300 miles depending on spec, with a 258hp e-motor powering the rear wheels. 

It comes with 11kW AC charging as standard and comes with 200kW DC charging for a 10–80 percent time of 24 minutes. 

There’s a massive 26.5in touchscreen setup as standard too, with a screen that can be split so that driver and passenger can use different functions at the same time. There’s no digital dashboard, so the driver will have to rely on the touchscreen and head-up display for all the basics. 

Takumi trim also comes with a panoramic glass roof with integrated sun shade, wireless Apple and Android connectivity, powered tailgate, 360º parking cameras, dual zone aircon, heated and ventilated front seats, adaptive cruise control and a heat pump for added efficiency.

The top-spec Takumi Plus trim has all the tech thrown at it, including digital side and rearview mirrors, ambient lighting, two-tone interior upholstery, rear touchscreen for passengers, plus heated and ventilated outer rear seats. 

Both models get a 468-litre boot that expands to 1,434 litres with the middle row folded down, as well as 3.5kW of V2L capability, where you can power electronics off the car’s battery.
