MG has big plans for its new MG and expects it to be the UK’s second biggest seller in 2023 – its first full year on sale. Bosses at the Chinese brand are also confident that its supply chains and production capacity are robust enough to keep up with what it expects to be high demand for the £25,995 hatchback.

MG has also confirmed what it describes as a sector-best PCP finance packages with monthly repayments starting from £300. Thanks to predicted resale values that are among the highest in the industry, MG has been able to offer the 4 at a much lower price point than key rivals:

MG4 SE Standard Range (51kWh - 218 mile range) £300 per month
MG4 SE Long Range (64kWh - 281 mile range) £350 per month
MG4 Trophy (64kWh - 270 mile range) £410 per month

(all packages are for 30,000 miles over 3 years with £4,000 deposit)

Thanks to the remarkable success of MG’s electric cars, the MG 5 and MG ZS, the brand is currently the 12th biggest in the UK with annual sales that total more than ŠKODA, Land Rover and MINI. Speaking at the launch of the MG4 – the brand’s first purpose-built electric car – bosses confirmed that more than 2,000 MG4s were on track to be delivered to the UK with no anticipated delays due to parts shortages. Like Tesla, MG has a range structure that has very few options, which means that it can build in volume and then match built cars to customer orders.

In addition to the MG4 deliveries, the brand has confirmed that the facelifted MG5 production lines are now working flat out to meet demand. A large number are expected to land in the UK before the end of the year.

However, MG buyers hoping to pick up an MG ZS any time soon will be in for disappointment. Bosses have confirmed to Electrifying.com that new customers will be looking at a 12 month wait for their cars. According to MG, the ZS has been the model most affected by the global semi-conductor shortage.

MG is expecting the MG4 to be a huge hit with British buyers and is ramping up production to meet demand
