BMW has just revealed its first iX4, and it’s a coupe version of the iX3 with 514 miles of range and 400kW charging.
That slightly less practical body shape comes with a minor £3k premium over the equivalent iX3 though – the iX4 40 xDrive M Sport starts the range at £60,170.

BMW does do a cheaper £54k rear-wheel-drive version of the iX3, but has said it doesn’t plan to repeat that strategy with the fancier iX4 line-up.
There are two versions of the car available – there’s the 40 xDrive M Sport opening proceedings, and then the 50 xDrive M Sport that will cost £66,075. You can upgrade to M Sport Pro spec on both powertrains for a £2k uplift.
The 40 has a 374hp motor and an 82.6kWh battery for a WLTP range of 396 miles, with 300kW max DC charging that adds 187 miles in 10 minutes.

Meanwhile the 50 has a 469hp motor and a chonkier 108.7kWh battery for a WLTP range of 514 miles that beats the iX3’s headline range by 14 miles thanks to the slippery sloped rear roofline. That’ll charge at a 400kW peak for 240 miles in 10 minutes.
The inside is familiar if you’ve been inside an iX3, with the full width information strip below the windscreen, a fancy head-up display and a 17.9in touchscreen infotainment system.

You lose 30 litres from the boot compared with the iX3 – there’s 490 litres in the boot, which extends to 1,600 litres with the rear seats tipped down (150 less than the iX3). You’ve also got a handy little 58-litre frunk at the front of the car.
The iX4 comes with M Sport trim as standard, which means 20in alloy wheels, a panoramic glass roof, ambient cabin lighting, heated electric front seats, rearview camera, Apple and Android connectivity plus access to BMW Digital Premium, which is the carmaker’s fancier infotainment setup with 3D satnav and a variety of other apps.

The M Sport Pro trim adds a load of M styling tweaks, massage front seats and adaptive LED headlights.
The iX4 is set to be built on the same production line in Hungary as its iX3 sibling, which is nice for BMW, save a bit of cash on building factories.
The new car is already available to order through your friendly local BMW dealer, with deliveries set to begin in March 2027.
There’s a faster performance version of the iX4 coming down the line – the M60 – but BMW says it’ll release more information about the pricing of that car closer to its launch early next year.
