Dacia teased us with the tiniest glimpse of its new second-generation Spring back in June, but now we can feast our eyes on the whole thing following its full reveal. 

The new Spring certainly looks very different – it’s now based on the same underpinnings as the Renault Twingo, but it’s been given a thorough working over to emphasise the practical, rugged vibes of a modern Dacia.

How much will the new Dacia Spring cost?

No UK prices have been confirmed yet, but we’re expecting the Spring to undercut the Renault Twingo that it’s based on. It’ll probably start from around £18,000. 

How far will the new Dacia Spring go?

The Spring will go as far as you like, as long as you’re up for charging it on the way. The 155-mile WLTP range is a slightly advance on the old car’s 140 miles. Charging might prove controversial though…

How quickly can it charge?

Just under three hours on a 7kW socket as the car arrives – you’ll have to pay extra to use a DC charger. Dacia is offering the car with a Charge pack that upgrades you to 11kW AC charging and 50kW DC rapid charging, as well as V2L capability. The rapid charging will mean 15%–80% in 28 minutes.

How big is the new Dacia Spring?

It’s quite a bit bigger than the old one – 150mm longer and 180mm longer than the first-generation car. 

Dacia hasn’t confirmed the height of the new car though… the Spring has the tall narrow vibe of a tiny SUV, but the Renault Twingo is actually slightly taller, so there might not be much change there.

How powerful is the new Dacia Spring?

The new Spring is a smidge more powerful than the old car – a boost of 10hp means the car gets to 62mph in 12.1secs versus the old car’s 12.3secs. 

What are the new Dacia Spring's rivals?

The Leapmotor T03 used to be the Dacia Spring’s big rival, but the Dacia’s rather priced itself out of contention with the UK’s cheapest car (TM). The Leapmotor costs £11,995 and actually has more range and a bigger battery. Smaller boot though, and you might prefer the Dacia’s tech. 

The BYD Dolphin Surf might be a more serious rival to the Spring – it charges faster and you can get one with 200 miles of range. It’s also price right around the spot that the Spring wants to occupy. 

When can I order the new Dacia Spring in the UK?

Another good question – UK prices and specifications as well as order and delivery dates are yet to be confirmed, so keep an eye on Electrifying.com for all the latest news on the new Dacia Spring. At least it won't have too far to come now production has moved from China to Slovenia.
