That might sound minor, but it translates to a useful boost in range. In fact, Porsche says the entry-level Cayenne Electric Coupe now manages up to 410 miles (WLTP), while the mid-spec Cayenne S Coupe stretches that to 415 miles. Go for the range-topping Turbo Coupe and you’ll get up to 398 miles – along with some properly wild performance.
That Turbo model is the headline act, producing up to 1,156hp with Launch Control engaged. The result? A 0–62mph sprint in just 2.5 seconds. Yes, really. Mind you, there's always the standard Cayenne and Cayenne S if you want something a bit more modest.
Aside from the sleeker shape, the Coupe gets all the same tech and luxury kit – as well as the same models - as the standard Cayenne Electric. That means air suspension as standard, optional electric doors, rear-wheel steering and clever active aerodynamics – including little ‘curtains’ that pop out behind the rear wheels at speed. The Turbo also gains active hydraulic suspension as standard.
Charging should be quick, too, with a peak rate of 390kW. Porsche claims that’s enough to add up to 200 miles of range in just 10 minutes under the right conditions.
Inside, the Coupe manages to keep things practical despite that sloping roofline. I was lucky enough to have a cheeky early look at the Cayenne Coupe, and I can tell you that rear headroom is still generous enough for taller passengers. You can choose between a more indulgent two-seat rear layout with electrically reclining seats, or a conventional 2+1 bench. Boot space does take a small hit, though, dropping from 506 litres in the SUV to 454 litres here.
It’s not a niche car, either. The Cayenne is a big seller for Porsche, and the coupe variant can account for nearly half of sales across Europe. What do you think of the styling? You can always leave a comment on Nic’s review of the SUV. Would you go for the SUV or the Coupe? Let us know!
Prices for the Cayenne Electric Coupe start from £86,200 in the UK – around £3,000 more than the standard SUV. The mid-spec S comes in at £102,900, while the Turbo Coupe tops the range at £133,900.
In short, if you like your electric SUVs with a bit more style and sports swagger, but you still want to be able to ferry the kids around in lavish comfort, this new Porsche Cayenne Electric Coupe could be for you.
