Fiat boss, Arnaud Belloni, confirmed to Electrifying that the Multiplay Concept revealed at the 2026 Paris motor show will make production.
“It’s very important to us,” Belloni explained. “I’ve got twins, and I had an MPV. Then, I bought an SUV, and I was really disappointed with life on board the SUV – and I knew we needed to invent something! That’s why I’m sure there’s room to have both [SUVs and MPVs], and that’s why I am prioritising work on the next-gen MPV, and it’ll be based on the Multiplay for sure. And I think that this trend towards MPVs is acknowledged by many manufacturers – Renault has the E-Space here, and I know the Chinese are also working on many MPVs.”
The Fiat Multiplay Concept was revealed at Paris 2026 amid a flurry of new concepts from parent company, Stellantis. The Multiplay really stood out to me, though, for its clever modularity as well as it style. The concept car has seats for six, plus a dedicated dog bed area (and hidden storage for lead and water bowl, which is genius). It also transforms from a six-person MPV to a four-person pick-up with a covered load bed, showing particular emphasis on versatility and practicality.

It has to be said that there’s echoes of the clever-but-cute Citroen ELO concept that Ginny did a video on, isn’t there?!
Despite that emphasis on lifestyle and usability, the Fiat Multiplay concept is fairly compact – and that will play out in the new, electric Fiat Multipla.
How big will the new, electric Fiat Multipla MPV be?
“We need to be under or around 4.5-metres long,” said Belloni. “We can go bigger but I want to stay at that size to be credible. I’m sure we’ll still have big wheels, and the same platforms but it will be re-interpreted. The Multiplay is obviously a concept, but it has a lot of good ideas and we’re going to work with that.”

When will the new Fiat Multipla EV go on sale?
Belloni told Electrifying that it will take “two to three years to get the car to production,” so I suspect we’ll see a production version of the Multiplay in 2028 with sales starting not long after in 2029.
What will the range be on the electric Multipla, and how much will it cost?
Obviously there are no specifics on battery, range and charging but I do know that Stellantis is increasingly relying on LFP battery tech in its electric cars. This battery tech is cheaper but typically heavier than the NMC battery tech more commonly used in longer range EVs. However, advances in LFP battery tech means that Stellantis – and other manufacturers including the VW Group – are now seeing LFP as a viable option for some of the longer range variants in their portfolio.
Which I suppose is a long way of saying that I suspect the electric Fiat Multipla will get a couple of LFP battery options! Belloni alluded to the company’s need to keep the Multipla compact and affordable when he mentioned keeping it “credible”, so expect it to be one of the more attainable electric MPVs. If Fiat can deliver the Multiplay EV with a six- or seven-seat layout, and with range of round 250- to 350 miles for around £30 - £35,000, I reckon it’ll be onto an absolute winner.
