Alfa Romeo Cuorerosso Concept is here, and it shows that Alfa has its mojo back!

If there’s one thing Alfa Romeo has always been good at, it’s making cars that, one way or another, pull on your heartstrings. Whether that’s because they’ve been breathtakingly gorgeous or heartbreakingly unreliable, emotion has always been at the heart of what Alfa Romeo does.

It seems fitting, then, that Alfa Romeo’s latest concept be named after the bleeding heart itself. That’s Cuorerosso or red heart, to be precise and this vision of Alfa Romeo’s future design language tugs at the heartstrings like a church bellringer at a wedding.

Let me reiterate, the Cuorerosso is a concept car and, as such, will sadly never be seen on the road. It is meant to set the direction for how future Alfa Romeos will look though, and that’s a very positive fact indeed.

The Cuorerosso is a 2+2 coupe design with elements of grand tourer and supercar. It’s got similar proportions to the old 8C, with short overhangs, a long bonnet, and an hourglass-like bird’s eye look. Pair that with reverse-hinged rear doors like a Mazda RX8 and a 4.7-metre length, and you get a surprisingly spacious looking sports coupe.

The gorgeous concept comes packaged with a statement of intent from Alfa Romeo. It says that Alfa Romeo will be pursuing a multi-energy future in a line-up that will accommodate fully electric, plug-in hybrid, mild hybrid, and full hybrid powertrains.

The Cuorerosso imagines a 2.9-litre V6 like the one found in Alfa’s beloved Giulia Quadrifoglio paired with a full-hybrid system and all-wheel drive. A fully electric one would probably be quicker, though…

A four-door, electrified Alfa Romeo coupe?! Yes, please...
