Toyota still thinks there's life in the MPV people-carrier as it has added two new electric models to its range.
The Japanese firm has a tie-up with Stellantis and as such the new Proace City Verso EV and Proace Verso EV are virtually identical to models from Citroen, Peugeot, Fiat and Vauxhall.
The smaller of the two, the Proace City Verso EV, uses a 134bhp electric to power the front wheels which is fed by a 50kWh battery pack. No electric drive range figures are quoted by Toyota, but given the similarity with Stellantis models such as the Peugeot E-Rifter, a range of just over 170 miles WLTP is likely.
The Proace City Verso EV comes in two body lengths – medium at 4,403mm and 4,753mm long - and two trim levels. The entry-level 'Shuttle' has an 11kW onboard charger, air conditioning, rear privacy glass, Bluetooth and four airbags. 'Family' adds a larger, 10-inch multi-information display, smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a pre-collision system, automatic air conditioning and 16-inch alloy wheels.
Prices are £34,113 for the Shuttle and £37,701 for the Family, for both the medium and long body lengths, and order books are open now.
The larger Proace Verso EV comes exclusively in nine-seat 'Shuttle' guise, either in medium (4,959mm) or long (5,309mm) body lengths. Designed with transporting people in comfort in mind, but has seats which tilt and tumble for easy access, dark-tinted rear windows and a 'multi-function roof' which includes controls for rear cabin air conditioning.
It uses the same 134bhp and 50kWh battery pack as the City Verso EV, with Toyota claiming a driving range of up to 143 miles. Prices start at £42,998 for the medium length version and £43,488 for the long-body model.
The Proace City Verso EV is the sister to Stellantis model such as the Peugeot e-Rifter
