BYD says that it has made a series of changes to its Seal electric saloon for 2026, but the good news is that the price is staying the same, starting from £45,730. 

The BYD Seal first went on sale in the UK at the end of 2023, so it’s not due a facelift just yet, but the Chinese carmaker has shown itself to be a judicious updater of its cars, making year on year improvements across its range. 

The Atto 3 was recently given a similar going over, but its new battery and interior upgrades warranted an ‘Evo’ addendum to its name. 

​BYD says that it has boosted the Seal’s safety offering with some new features like its driving monitoring system, plus new for 2026 is the Bluetooth key, which uses your phone to give you keyless entry to the car. 

Spec-wise there’s the addition of a head-up display in Excellence trim, which builds on an already comprehensive kit list. That model also keeps the same price, costing £48,730. 

On the outside there’s a new design of the 19in alloy wheels, three new paint colours and a big BYD logo has been glued on the back of the car above the light bar. 

Magically the company has managed to increase the bootspace inside the car from 400 litres to 485 litres, and the car has sprouted a couple of tether hooks too. Under the bonnet the frunk has grown by 19 litres to 72 litres – plenty of space for charging cables, but BYD reckons you can even fit a cabin bag in there. If you wanted to that is.
