The G80 has the quality, technology and performance to challenge the likes of Tesla, Mercedes and BMW. But it feels a little soulless and the saloon format will limit appeal for some.

Ginny Says

“Even if you ignore all of the technology and the way the G80 drives, there is a big reason it will be a success: you can actually buy one. Genesis have cars available, whereas you have to literally wait years for some rivals.”

Nicki Says

“It's easy to scoff at the idea of having a 'concierge' to deal with things like servicing, but I love the idea. Taking your car to a scruff industrial estate to get a rattle fixed is not my idea of luxury.”

FAQs

What are the Genesis Electrified G80’s rivals?

The obvious competitors are the Mercedes EQE, BMW i4, Tesla Model S and Audi e-tron GT.

How much is the Genesis Electrified G80 going to cost?

There is only one model, and it’s £65,805. There are plenty of option packs though – tick all the boxes and it adds up to over £80,000.

How will the Genesis Electrified G80 be sold?

There won’t be any dealers; instead you can view the car at a ‘Studio’ in a shopping centre, or you can go through the whole process online and someone will bring the car to your house to try.

Does the solar roof on a Genesis Electrified G80 really charge the car?

Sort of. If parked in a sunny spot all day, it should generate enough to extend the range by a mile or two. But it’s a £1,360 option, so it would take around 19 years of sunny days to get your money back in electricity costs.

Is the Genesis Electrified G80 a hatchback?

No – it might look like one, but it’s actually a saloon. The 354-litre boot isn’t big either – that’s smaller than a family hatchback.
