“How can you resist the Honda e? Honda’s first all-electric car is very cute and looks like it should be star in the next Disney movie. Small EVs with a modest range make a lot of sense as a second car. But it does cost more than the Mini Electric, which is a better all-rounder.”

“Honda has put together a smart package, it looks retro, is packed with tech and I think it’ll go on to become an iconic car. Of course, you pay for that package and it’s price may prove a stumbling block, but think of this as the latest must-have fashion accessory.”

The only used Honda e you are likely to find is a dealer’s demonstrator or a cancelled order. Don’t expect much of a discount on the new price though.

  • Prices from: £26,000

The Honda e is a new and exciting car, and dealers will be keen to get hold of new stock. They will have a demonstrator or two, but expect them to keep hold of these cars for as long as possible, so they can show the car to prospective customers. When they can be persuaded to sell, don’t expect a big discount on the new list price.

Hondas have a good reputation for reliability too, so prices tend to be strong throughout the car’s life. However, the e is as much a fashion item as it is a car, and buyers in this market do tend to like moving on to the latest thing. It means that some Honda es might get moved on after only a year or two and supply will ease up.
