The Ioniq 5 is one of our favourite electric cars, but the styling is Lego-brick blocky. Besides not being to everyone's taste, it's not the most aerodynamic either. Enter the wind-cheating Ioniq 6, which should bring extra efficiency to the package.

Ginny Says

“The 6 takes all of the things we love about the IONIQ 5 and put them in a sleeker package with even more efficiency. The figures I've been getting on short test drives are nowhere near the claims though.”

Nicki Says

“It's obvious that there's still a big stash of brave pills at Hyundai HQ. I worried that bosses might make the IONIQ 6 more traditional, but I'm glad that they haven't. It's a shame the saloon-only format will limit its appeal in the UK. ”

How much will the Hyundai IONIQ 6 cost?

The range starts at £46,745 for the Premium Rear Wheel Drive, rising to £53,745 for the Ultimate All Wheel Drive. If Hyundai decides to add the 58kWh battery version to the range, then expect prices to start from around £40,000.

How big is the Hyundai IONIQ 6?

The IONIQ 6 is 4,855mm long, 1,880mm wide and 1,495mm high. It has a wheelbase of 2,950mm, which is 50mm shorter than the IONIQ 5.

How much power will the IONIQ 6 have?

The IONIQ 6 will be available with two and all-wheel drive and is expected to have very similar power outputs to the current IONIQ 5. That means entry-level models will have 215bhp with the range-topping model expected 305bhp.

What is the range of the IONIQ 6?

The IONIQ 6 is likely to be a lot more aerodynamic than the boxy IONIQ 5 and comes with a 77.4 kWh battery. The combination of the slippery design and large pack is expected to boost overall range to around 384 miles on a single charge for the most efficient version.

How long does it take to charge the IONIQ 6?

Like the IONIQ 5, the 6 is equipped with an advanced 800 volt charging system that will allow for super-quick charging sessions when hooked up to a suitable DC rapid charger. We'd expect the IONIQ 6 to charge to 80% in around 20 minutes when connected to a 350kW rapid charger. On a domestic 7kW wallbox, a full charge from empty to full will take around 11 hours.
