Ginny Says

“The Sportage is a hugely practical family car which matches some of the posh Germans for quality. Kia's warranty is still a major attraction too.”

Nicki Says

“The official consumption and range figures mean the Sportage has a killer 8% tax rate of company car drivers. It'll save hundreds versus a diesel.”

Does Kia have plug-in hybrids?

Yes – the Sportage is the newest of Kia's plug-in hybrid range, which includes the Niro and Sorento.

Is the new Sportage electric?

No, the plug-in hybrid is the closest you'll get to an electric version. Kia's electric models comprise the EV6,Soul and e-Niro, but the Sportage is very likely to be offered as an EV by the end of the decade.

How much extra is the PHEV over the Hybrid?

The Sportage comes in a variety of mild-, full- and plug-in hybrid versions. As for the price difference between the full-hybrid and PHEV, you're looking at around £5,000.

How long does it take to charge the Kia Sportage PHEV?

Thanks to a 7.2kW on-board charger, a full charge from a 7kW home wallbox should take no more than one hour 45 minutes, which is pretty good for a PHEV.

What is the electric range of the Kia Sportage PHEV?

Kia claims 43 miles on a full charge. That is the claimed figure and you'll unlikely see that. In our testing on a warm spring day, we were getting 36 miles which is more than enough for the average daily commute.
