“Skoda, once the butt of many comedians jokes, make some superb cars these days. So is this one of them? Yes, the Superb lives up to its name. You won't have the most exciting car on the block but you will get quality, comfort and space all at an affordable price - and this plug-in version add the bonus of low benefit-in-kind tax.”

“This is Skoda's re-think of the VW Passat GTE, with a 1.4-litre engine, electric motor - and a plug. That means it's got the same sort of power as a V6 but with decent fuel consumption and 30-35 miles of EV range. I'm a sucker for an estate too, and the huge Superb is one of the best. It's champagne tech for beer money!”

Got questions? We've put together the most frequently-asked topics below. If there's something we haven't answered here or in the review then let us know on our contact page

Is the Skoda Superb iV better than a Volkswagen Passat GTE?

It’s no secret that the Skoda shares many of its major components with the VW Passat, is bigger and cheaper too. It doesn’t feel quite as sharp on the road though and there are signs of cost-cutting visible on parts of the Skoda, such as interior trim.

Is the Skoda Superb iV a good company car?

Yes. The plug-in hybrid Superb iV will mostly appeal to company car drivers as it  falls into the 12% Benefit in Kind (BIK) rating, which can potentially save company drivers thousands a year in tax.

Is the Skoda Superb iV more economical than a diesel?

It depends how you drive, your typical journeys and if you plug in. If you can use electricity more often than the petrol engine by driving less than 30 miles, the iV will save you a fortune in fuel. If you do mainly longer trips, the diesel will be a better bet.

Can you get the Skoda Superb hybrid as an estate?

Yes, it’s available as a hatch and an estate.

Can you rapid charge a Skoda Superb iV?

No, it won’t accept a DC rapid charge. And the maximum charging rate is 3.6kW which is slow by modern standards, so a full charge take 3.5 hours.
