Chinese brand Avatr is the latest addition to the European car market (and there are more to come at the 2026 Paris motor show), with the Changan-owned brand announcing its ambitions on the eve of the French exhibition.

Avatr is set to launch in Norway and Spain in early 2027 – presumably they couldn’t decide between skiing or the beach – with other European markets set to follow after.

The company will launch with two models, the 06T and 07L. The 06T comes in range extender or EV guises, with electric range of around 150 miles for the former and up to 460 miles for the latter. The 06T is a jaunty looking estate model in the same vein as the Denza Z9GT albeit with a cheaper starting price in China of about £25k.

The 07L is a mid-sized electric SUV model with a Chinese market range of around 450 miles (the Chinese CLTC test is more generous the WLTP European equivalent

Over the next three years, the company says it plans to launch six models in Europe ranging from mid‑size and large SUVs to shooting‑brake body styles.

Avatr has already opened a ‘global design centre’ in Munich as a statement of intent, gathering staff from across the continent to bring some European expertise.

Also at the launch in Paris were two concept cars, the most production ready of which is the T09 large SUV (above) that has the air of a Mercedes-Maybach.

Avatr says that it’s currently operating in 70 countries across the world (none of which are the UK yet), with plans to expand to 110 markets by 2030.
