Chinese car maker, Geely, has confirmed that it will bring the Geely EX2 to the UK within the next year. The EX2 is a compact electric hatchback, measuring just over 4.1m long and 1.8m wide, making it a direct rival to cars like the Ford Puma Gen-E, Renault 4 E-Tech and BYD Atto 2.
It’ll likely get an LFP battery of either 30- or 40kWh, offering a WLTP range of around 192- or 255 miles respectively.

While you may not be familiar with Geely as a brand, you will be familiar with the marques that it owns. These include Volvo, Polestar, Smart, Lotus, LEVC (which makes the plug-in hybrid black cabs commonly seen in London) and Zeekr.
Now, the Geely brand is being launched in the UK and other global markets, starting with the Geely EX5 electric family SUV that we’ve already driven.
The EX2 is particularly interesting because it’s based on the the Geely Xingyuan, which is the fastest-selling EV in China, where it sold over 400,000 examples between January- and September 2025. It’s also the second best-selling electric car in the world after the Tesla Model Y.
For a bit more context, Geely sold over 2.17 million cars in 2024, so while it’s a way behind the likes of Toyota (which sold 10.8 million) and BYD (which sold 4.27 million), Geely is still a huge force in global car manufacturing, and it’s growing rapidly.
The Geely EX2 electric hatchback will go on sale in 2026, alongside a couple of plug-in hybrid SUVs and hatchbacks that will also join Geely's UK lineup next year.
