The production version of the new Jaguar Type 01 electric GT has been revealed, and Electrifying editor-in-chief Ginny Buckley has been watching the unveil on the ground in New York. She’s also spoken to Jaguar boss Rawdon Glover, who knows that the car is polarising and is quite happy about it.

Jaguar Type 01: from concept to production
It’s been a troubled gestation for the Type 01 – it started out as a massively controversial rebrand that broke the internet and turned into a global culture war.
Everyone had an opinion on the car company that went woke, and the problem was it was months and months before any evidence of a car appeared.
It wasn't until December 2024 when the Jaguar Type 00 concept was revealed in all its resplendent pink glory.
After the reveal of the concept car, Ginny and deputy editor Mike Askew had a bit of an argument about whether it was any good.

We got to have a look around the prototype of the new Jaguar Type 01 in March 2026, the name of the new car was revealed in May 2026, but we didn't get to drive the prototype of the new Type 01 until the summer of 2026.
Meanwhile, in August 2026 the information finally started flowing about the new car – Vicky got to see the interior of the new Jaguar in the month.
