Kia has revealed the production version of its new EV2 electric SUV at the Brussels motor show.
The production EV2 is a bit more sensible than the concept we saw a few months ago – there are proper rear door handles on the one you’ll buy – but it retains the bold looks of the concept car, which is definitely a good thing.
The EV2 gets two battery options, with 42.2kWh and 61kWh packs available, offering 197 miles and 278 miles of WLTP range respectively.

The EV2 is set to go head to head against the likes of the well received Renault 5 and new Volkswagen ID.Polo when that car arrives. When Ginny had a look at the EV2 ahead of the Brussels motor show she said that with the car being as stylish she might be tempted to pick one over a Renault 5 because of the extra space inside.
There are four and five seat versions of the car available – on the four-seater version the rear bench will slide backwards and forwards depending on how much boot space versus rear legroom you want.

With the fixed rear seats on the five-seater car the boot is 362 litres, but with the sliding bench you get up to 403 litres of space and one less person in the back annoying you. There’s also a 15-litre frunk under the bonnet that will fit your charging cables inside.
Kia says that “every element of the EV2 has been engineered with European lifestyles in mind”, which we’re going to assume is not an insult. European lifestyles typically involve staring at a 12.3in infotainment screen, using a digital key on your phone and charging from 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes.

The EV2 will be capable of AC charging up to 22kW, and will have both V2L functionality (for plugging things in and running them off the car) and V2G capability (sending electricity into the grid).
The EV2 is set to be built at Kia’s Zilina factory in Slovakia, with the smaller batteried car first on the production line in February, with the longer range car starting up in June 2026. Prices and on sale dates for the UK haven’t been announced yet, but we expect the car to go on sale in late spring from around £24,000.

Flexible second row is a nice touch on the four seater version, five seats and a fixed bench are the other option
