Sure, it’s never actually half an hour long, but that is its official rating for WLTP purposes and we’re legally obliged to use it.
Welcome to the Kilowatt Half Hour podcast – join Ginny Buckley, Mike Askew and Nicola Hume as they discuss the latest developments from the world of electric vehicles and celebrate a special centenary special edition. That’s correct, it’s episode 100.
This week's topics include why Ginny’s podcasting from the back of a Volvo ES90 and Mike appears to be sunning himself in Mallorca. There’s also talk of the new Renault Twingo now the embargo has lifted and we’re allowed to say about how much we like it.
Meanwhile, Ginny has been impressed by the luxurious interior of the new ES90, as well as the efficiency of the BMW iX3 that has been getting very close to actually meeting its claimed range figures. Less efficient is the Porsche Cayenne Turbo that Nicola’s been driving, but the performance is plenty wild enough.
There’s also a discussion about whether the multiplatform launch strategy from the Volkswagen Group is getting out of hand, news that Honda and Sony have abandoned their joint venture making electric cars together, and the team shares their favourite hidden Easter eggs that can be found in cars. Mike likes the strap in his Volkswagen ID.Buzz that’s a replica of one that can be found in the original Beetle, and Nicola’s not sure that the Tesla fart mode actually counts as an Easter egg.
Then it's time for a dive into the Electrifying postbag, with the team answering the questions that listeners have emailed in or commented on YouTube. (And if you have a question or comment to be included in the KWHH postbag, incidentally, you can leave your comment on YouTube or send us an email to [email protected].)
As ever, the Kilowatt Half Hour is available to watch on YouTube (in fact you watch it below) and can be found in all the sensible places you get your podcasts – check out the links and subscribe.
