Lexus has revealed its first ever electric seven-seater that comes with a 96kWh battery and around 300 miles of range – and it is coming to the UK, despite what you might have read on here before. Ahem.
But we're glad it is coming, because the three-row SUV certainly looks like an interesting addition to the Lexus range with its light up logos front and rear.

The new car actually comes with two gigantic battery options – 77kWh and 96kWh – and permanent four-wheel drive thanks to twin e-motors. There’s no word on official range figures yet – Lexus estimates around 330 miles of range maximum, give a take a few depending on what spec you go for. And less if you go for the smaller battery, obviously.
You can choose between 20in and 22in wheel sizes, and at the back of the car the rear wheels also steer, which serves to reduce the turning circle of a big car like this as well as providing a bit of cornering stability.
In an indication of how swish the car is, one of the five drive modes available when you’re behind the wheel is ‘Rear comfort’, which optimises the rear-steer setup as well as the brakes and acceleration to try and minimise any pitching and heaving for passengers sitting in the back. How considerate.

Lexus also says that it has used ‘frequency offsetting’ materials in the interior trim to cut down on noise inside the cabin, as well as a variety of sound absorbing materials for maximum plush quiet.
Interior highlights include a giant opening panoramic glass roof, bamboo-based interior trim materials and lovely squishy looking rear seats. Not to mention the dashboard controls that only appear when you wave your hand over them.
There aren’t any prices for the new TZ that have been announced yet, but we imagine that they’ll fall somewhere between the ‘very’ and ‘really expensive’ brackets. The TZ arrives in Europe at some point in 2027, so we'll expect full prices and specs closer to then.
If you want an electric Lexus in the UK, your choice is limited to the RZ model, because the company's first EV (the UX) was recently taken off sale.
