Shout out to my UX – Lexus has quietly taken its first EV off sale

Lexus has quietly taken its UX300e off sale, leaving the posh Japanese carmaker with just its RZ-badged model on sale that’s an EV.

The rest of the Lexus range is made up of conventional hybrid models that rely on petrol power, as well as plug-in hybrid options on the NX and RX SUV models, neither of which can go 50 miles in EV mode.

The company told journalists who had noticed the removal of the car from the company’s UK website that the UX300e had been withdrawn from sale at the end of 2025. There’s been no indication as to why the car is no longer on sale.

Just to add to the murkiness, the UX300e is still listed on the Lexus media site as being on sale, with a price list showing the car’s £40,065–£51,145 range “effective from 2nd February 2026”.

The UX300e went on sale in the UK in January 2021 and was the first electric vehicle from Lexus, which has become notable for its hybrid powertrains over the last couple of decades, but like parent company Toyota has been extremely slow in putting a decent range of fully electric vehicles together.

The high price of the UX300e and the absence of any standout features have made it hard to recommend, though – plus the fact that the car was being sold with 50kW CHAdeMO fast charging when other Japanese EVs have long outgrown the standard.

The next all-electric Lexus will be the ES, which had been expected to go on sale in spring 2026 when we first heard about the car last year, but won’t be available to order until later in the year according to the company.

Given that we still don’t know anything about the car’s battery packages, range estimates or prices, it seems like we might be in for a bit of a wait.
