Fancy £1,500 off the new Kia EV3 and EV4? Your dreams have just come true

Kia has announced that more of its models are now eligible for the UK government’s plug-in car grant – but not the EV2, yet, that still comes with a home made Kia discount for now.

The Kia EV3 is the latest model from the Korean carmaker to qualify for the scheme – it gets the Band 2 grant, which means £1,500 off the Air and GT-Line models (but not the GT-Line S).

Which all means that the EV3 lineup now starts at £31,555 for the Air Standard Range model and its 58.3kWh battery. Upgrade to the larger 81.4kWh number in the same trim and that’ll set you back £34,555.

The GT-Line car only comes with the bigger battery and now costs £37,995 with the government’s £1,500 discount applied. The entry car manages 270 miles of range, while the larger batteried car does 375 miles in Air trim and 367 miles in its GT-Line guise.

The other car to qualify for the grant is a new model in the EV4 lineup (version pictured not to UK specification) – which gets the exciting trim name ‘Motion’. Kia describes it as a ‘special edition’ model, so it could have limited numbers in case you’re a diehard completist EV4 fan.

This latest version of the EV4 gets a nine-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system, heated rear seats, plus a trim specific cloth and pleather interior all for the generous price (thanks, the government) of £38,995 including the £1,500 Band 2 grant.

This car sits between the GT-Line and GT-Line S models in the EV4 lineup, says Kia – neither of which are currently eligible for the grant. Go figure that one out. On the plus side, Kia says that all of these models are already available to order from its dealers.
