Home charging outfit Ohme is launching a new change point that will finally offer a solution to the thorny issue of shared charging in residential locations.
The company has introduced a new ‘Park & Charge’ function on its ePod S EV charger that has been designed to be easy to use in shared residential or business parking.
The landlord or building manager has access to a platform that allows them to manage and administer the charge points, while individual users get access to the plugs by downloading the Ohme app for charging.
Whoever looks after the plug can set the charge price, add or delete users and also monitor how the charge point is being used through the Ohme management platform. EV drivers can pay for their charge, start and stop a session and view their own activity through the public facing Ohme app.

The new feature arrives just as the government has announced an extension to its OZEV grant for landlords and renters, with a beefed up £500 per charge point being offered to help boost the affordability of installing a home plug.
Potential EV drivers have long cited public charging infrastructure and the cost of installing a home point as things that could put them off switching to electric vehicles in Electrifying.com's regular surveys.
Ohme CEO David Watson said the company’s new Park & Charge function is a valuable addition to its repertoire: “This will make it easier for property developers to choose Ohme when deciding on their residential EV charging partner as well as for businesses with shared parking arrangements or landlords.”
