The Nissan Leaf has been named as UK's most reliable used electric car, according to data from a company which has to pay the bills when they break down. 

Warranty Solutions Group took in a sample of 1,000 real-world repair claims paid by the company on EV warranties issued between January and December 2025. The resulting data showed differences in both fault rates and repair costs across the UK's most popular electric models.

The Leaf topped the reliability rankings with an impressively low claim rate of just 1.52% and an average cost of £818. The Audi e-tron was in second place with a higher claim rate of 3.23% but a lower cost, at £570.18. 

Third place went to the Vauxhall Corsa Electric with a 4.76% rate and claim of £702.94. The most expensive claims were for the Jaguar I-Pace, with an average cost of £1,868.97.

The figures prove that EVs have fewer breakdowns than petrol cars. The most reliable combustion engined car was a Toyota Yaris with a 6.17% claim rate but a lower cost at £375. Nissan’s Qashqai had a 26.8% rate and a cost average of £512, with turbos being the most common issue.

The most common problems were for suspension faults, aircon compressors and the battery charge port. Tyre pressure monitoring system issues also made the top five.

Martin added: "While some EVs are proving extremely reliable, when faults do occur the cost of repair can be significant – particularly for premium models and vehicles with advanced electrical and thermal systems. For consumers, this means looking beyond fuel savings and factoring repair severity into the total cost of ownership.”
