Is a plug a must for you when you’re looking for somewhere to stay on holiday? Home charging company Ohme reckons it’s got your back – it’s just signed a deal with a leading holiday firm to offer free chargers to property owners who are renting out their houses as holiday lets.
Ohme has joined up with Awaze, which owns brands including Hoseasons and Cottages.com, to try and boost the number of plugs that are on offer to electric vehicle drivers who are trying to get away from it all.
Awaze says that in 2025 properties with plugs enjoyed 16% more bookings and 39% more revenue that those without – which sounds like it’s great for the property owners, but more like EV drivers are paying extra.

Of course, there’s a lot to be said for the peace of mind that comes from knowing you’ve got a charge point on hand when you’re staying somewhere on holiday, especially when many popular destinations don’t yet have the sort of facilities for electric cars that you’d hope for.
Awaze says that it offers access to more than 20,000 properties across the UK for those looking to book a getaway, which includes everything from privately owned properties to professionally run holiday parks.
Peter McDonald from Ohme says there are positives for house owners and holidaymakers: “This new collaboration means more EV drivers will be able to access cheaper charging when on holiday and avoid relying on public charging which is often more expensive. As EV ownership grows, future requests for EV charging are only going to go up.”
Ohme has a number of deals in place with carmakers for people who buy new electric cars, offering free home charger installations.
