It was only a matter of that before Kia followed sister firm Hyundai in offering incentives to customers switching to electric cars.
However, while Hyundai has rolled out its own "Electric Grant" scheme that sees up to £3,750 being wiped of the RRP of every model in its electric car line-up, Kia is being more prudent.

Just the EV3 and brand new EV4 hatchback, both in entry-level Air specification, will be in the spotlight, with Kia increasing the deposit contribution to £3,750 during the third quarter of this year.

The move is a reaction to the Government's recently announced Electric Car Grant, which will see discounts of up to £3,750 applied to cars that are priced below £37,000. However, other than the price, it's still unclear what other criteria will make cars eligible for the scheme, with rumours that country of origin will play a key part.
Clarity is unlucky before mid-August, so Kia is jumping the gun and offering the deposit contribution while the Government makes up its mind around the eligibility criteria. It means the EV3 Air with its 58kWh battery, which was priced at £33,005, will now cost £29,255, while the EV4 with the same battery sees a price drop from £34,495 to £30,945.
