Suzuki has announced pricing for the new e Vitara – its first fully electric car – and it’s a little higher than we were expecting. It starts from £29,999 for the 49kWh battery model – that’s £4 more than the cheapest Ford Puma Gen-E, and £3,004 more than the cheapest Renault 4. It is cheaper than a Kia EV3 and Volvo EX30, however.
The cheapest ‘Motion’ model has a 49kWh battery, or is available with a 61kWh pack for an extra £3,000. The e Vitara will be available with a posher Ultra grade, and the ALLGRIP-e four-wheel drive system is an option costing £2,000.
The electric ALLGRIP-e system features two independent motors at the front and rear. It has been developed specifically for e Vitara (and the Toyota Urban Cruiser sister car) and Suzuki is currently one of only a few brands to offer 4x4 as an option in the SUV EV sector.
For buyers looking at finance options, e Vitara will be available from launch with 0% PCP, payable over two years and with a 20% deposit. Taking the 61kWh Motion 2WD as an example, a hefty deposit of £8,436 is required followed by monthly payments of £379 per month with the usual optional final payment if you want to keep the car at the end of the agreement.
As an additional bonus for anyone ordering their e Vitara before 30th September, Suzuki will throw in a free Ohme home charger along with 10,000 miles’ worth of home charging credit.
Suzuki will also offer a 10 year warranty on the new e Vitara. This means it will match the cover offered by Toyota on its version of the car, the Urban Cruiser.
Pricing for the e Vitara is:
49kWh Motion 2WD £29,999
61kWh Motion 2WD £32,999
61kWh Ultra 2WD £35,799
61kWh Motion ALLGRIP-e 4WD £34,999
61kWh Ultra ALLGRIP-e 4WD £37,799
