Hold on to your hats, the cheapest electric car on the market just got even cheaper (we’re not counting the Citroen Ami because it’s not a proper car) – the Dacia Spring is now available at your friendly local Dacia dealer for just £11,990.
Before we get too carried away with ourselves, we must note that the price of the car has only actually gone down by £250, but to be fair that’s a decent long-distance train ticket for when charging every 140 miles gets too much to handle.

Dacia already knocked off a chunk of money back in December 2025 when it announced pricing for the freshened up version of the Spring that went on sale in the… spring. That one was a slightly more generous £3,750 discount to match the UK government’s electric car grant.
The entry level model is the Expression Electric 70, which now starts from £11,990, then you’ll pay £1,000 more to get yourself the Extreme Electric 100 at £12,990.
The top spec Extreme model is the one you want to go for because it comes with a proper infotainment screen, has wireless Apple and Android connectivity, V2L functionality, electric rear windows and a reversing camera. All very swish.

What we think is going on here looking at the prices in the forensic detail that we do is that the Extreme – the car that everyone actually wants to buy – is now £5 cheaper than the generously equipped single-spec Leapmotor T03 that does 165 miles of WLTP range. Shots fired, etc. (And which is best? Check out Nicki's twin test comparison below...)
The Spring is living on borrowed time, of course – Dacia recently announced that it's going to reveal a new second-generation version of the car before the end of 2026 that will go on sale early next year.
