This is our first official look at the Astra facelift for 2026

It’s an early Christmas present from Vauxhall – a dreamy glimpse of the new facelifted Astra before the car is officially unveiled at the Brussels motor show on 6 January.

The new version of the Astra gets an updated ‘Vizor’ front end, with a full width illuminated strip and a vertical line going through the lit up griffin logo. We’re not sure if ‘builder’s laser level’ was on the design department mood board, but it all looks well measured to us.

The car gets new upgraded matrix LED headlights, comfier seats and more stuff inside made with recycled other stuff. In fact those new seat covers are made from 100% recycled materials.

Vauxhall says it has updated the infotainment inside the Astra to make it all easier to use as well. Sadly the facelift doesn't seem able to address the main complaint that we've had about the car, namely the lack of space compared with rivals. The PHEV version of the car recently benefitted from some tweaks to release a bit more range as well as a price cut.

The big news on the electric Astra though is that its new 58kWh battery will now take the car up to 282 WLTP miles, which is 22 miles further than before. That’s almost saved you from running an entire marathon.

The Astra also comes with V2L functionality for the first time, allowing you to use the onboard juice to power other things, which is a nice addition.

The freshened up Astra and the Sports Tourer (estate version) will go on sale in early 2026 after their Brussels debut. We’ve no word yet on whether prices will change for the car. The Astra Electric currently starts at £34,130 for the entry spec Griffin model in hatchback form.

And here's the interior.
