BYD has confirmed full pricing and specification details for the facelifted version of its Atto 3 that was recently unveiled.
The Atto 3 Evo, as the car is now known, will be easy enough to buy – you can just flip a coin, because it comes in two different trim levels.
The entry level trim is called ‘Design’, and starts from £38,990 – a “modest step” up from the Atto 3 (those Evo badges on the back of the car won’t pay for themselves) that used to start from £37,730.

The Design car gets a whopping 15.6in touchscreen infotainment setup as standard, running Google software including its Maps programme for the satnav. There’s also a cooled wireless phone charging pad, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree parking camera, four USB-C sockets, V2L and heat pump, heated electrically adjustable front seats, ambient lighting and 18in alloy wheels.
Why would you even need to go for the next spec up? The Excellence trim is the second one you can choose from, costing from £42,730. As well as the prodigious kit from the Design model, you also get heated rear seats, a head-up display and a panoramic sunroof.

The other big differentiator between the two cars is the powertrain – the Atto 3 Evo has switched to a rear-wheel-drive layout in Design specification, while the Excellence model comes with all-wheel drive.
The upgraded battery is another big selling point – where the Atto 3 had a 60.5kWh battery, the Evo now comes with a 74.8kWh number for a WLTP range of up to 316 miles depending on spec, and increased maximum charge speeds of 220kW for a 10% to 80% top-up in 25 minutes. We'd expect nothing less from the world's top EV seller.

The other exciting development on the Atto 3 is that BYD has managed to find an extra 50 litres in the boot that were presumably just sitting around doing nothing before (we’re reliably informed it’s actually something to do with the battery being moved around, despite it being bigger) – you’ve now got 490 litres in the back and a 95-litre frunk that’s sprouted underneath the bonnet.
BYD is feeling generous when it comes to after sales support, too, with a very specific six-year/93,750-mile warranty on the car plus eight years for the battery.
The Atto 3 Evo is available to order from 2 April, says BYD, with deliveries taking place at some point after that.
